Information for new members

You are assured of a warm welcome at Eaton Golf Club
There's plenty to get involved in

The Annual Handbook
The Annual Handbook gives you the calendar for the year, along with members' names and telephone numbers. More recent diary events can be seen on the website as can members' details including their email addresses.

The 200 Club
200 Club supporters provide some luxury extras for the golf club as well as giving members the chance to win a prize. Membership of the 200 Club lottery has been very successful and we now give out 6 prizes in each monthly draw.

50% of the fund goes towards Eaton G C projects that are outside the normal club budget. The other 50% is paid out to 200 Club members in cash prizes.

For more information please use the tab 200 Club in the Members Area.

Course Usage
There is a hybrid system of booking and turn-up-and-play. TUAP sessions are mainly late afternoon and evening. Look in the on-line diary to see Society bookings, Open Events and Charity Days.

AGM
The AGM takes place in March and all members are encouraged to attend.

Members' Club
This is a members' club and it is run by eleven committees led by our board of directors. If you would like to contact Committee Members or read minutes of meetings, please use the documents on the Club V1 members hub.

Eaton Voice
There is an online feedback system, Eaton Voice, for you to give your suggestions to the committees that run the various parts of club. Input from members via this system has helped to mould the club and satisfy its members. New ideas are always welcome, they can be sent via the website.

Men's Section
Entry sheets for Men's major competitions can be found in the locker room. Weekend Medal and Stableford competitions take place throughout the year. To enter these use HowDidIDo. For roll up during midweek and weekend events, book in at the Pro's shop on arrival.

There are several Opens during the year. There is a Men's Seniors' Section, aged 55 and over (See details below)

Ladies Section
Ladies' competition day is Wednesday. There are also some additional competitions at weekends, see the handbook for details. To enter a Ladies competition, use HowDidIDo.

Nine-hole informal roll-ups take place every Monday and Friday morning. Just turn up in the locker room between 9.00am and 9.15am.

Ladies dinners are held following the Spring Meeting, Founder's Day and the Autumn Meeting, together with an Annual dinner in November.

We have 3 ladies' teams A, B and C competing in the West Cheshire Shield. Players are picked in handicap order. Friendly matches against other local clubs are popular with ladies not eligible for the teams.

There is a Ladies' Invitation Day and an Exchange Day every year.

Ladies with a competition handicap can win silverware; those with a non-competition handicap may enter but cannot win.

Mixed Section
9-hole competitions followed by supper are played monthly from April to October. These are replaced by 9-holes and lunch from December through to March. Non-playing partners are welcome to come for the meal.

On bank holidays there are 18 hole competitions. Most of these are followed by a meal.

There are two Knock-out competitions running throughout the summer, The Gruesomes (for married couples) and the Mixed Foursomes (no married couples allowed).

To sign up for all of these use HowDidiDo. Dress code is informal except when silverware is presented, (see the website Honours Boards/Mixed).

All the mixed competitions are well supported, friendly, social occasions.

Junior Section
Eaton Golf Club has a thriving junior section known as the Eaton Academy.

Our 70+ active juniors are supported by a team of club professionals and enthusiastic volunteers in all aspects of junior life and development. Our Junior Guidance Handbook will give you more information.

At Eaton we arrange weekly graded junior coaching on Saturdays and Sundays and junior holiday camps during school holidays. Also we arrange a junior winter program of coaching and competitions. You are entitled to some free coaching lessons when you join.

Regular Junior competitions are arranged throughout the golf season..

Senior Section
The Seniors Section is open to all male members of the club aged 55 or over. An annual payment of £12.50 to the Seniors Secretary allows members to :

* Enter the Seniors Knockouts (Greensomes & Fourballs) competitions,
* Play in matches against a number of Clubs in Cheshire, Shropshire, North Wales & the Wirral from April to October, often one match per week, home or away.
* Join in three very sociable "9 hole plus lunch" competitions through the course of the year.
* Seniors Dinner to which partners/guest are invited.

For all of the above, pairings and teams will be drawn "out of hat", ensuring that all players making themselves available have plenty of golf to enjoy. Team details are posted on the notice board in the Men's locker room

Throughout the year, informal 'roll-ups' take place every Tuesday and Thursday morning. Names are drawn out of the hat so it's a great opportunity for new members to get to know many other Seniors within the Club.

From November to March on weekdays, there is also a Winter League running to help us keep playing through the season.

Social Events
A wide range of very popular social events is organised throughout the year by our Social Committee. These can be seen on the website, Clubhouse/Upcoming Events.

During the winter, bridge lessons are provided for both beginners and improvers. The Ladies' section participates in a bridge league against other Chester clubs. We also have indoor bowls.

Members may book the clubhouse, through the office, for private functions.
