Happy New Year!

We have had almost an inch and a half of rain this past week (since Friday Dec. 29).  The ground is utterly saturated - even a minimal amount of rain overnight Thursday created standing water all over the course.  Everywhere else is in the same boat (not really intended as a pun) and has been closed - some deciding early on Saturday to remain closed all weekend.  The future forecast is much more encouraging, with cold and dry weather showing for the next couple of weeks.  It’s already begun, with a light frost on Friday morning.   Unfortunately there seems to be little wind forecast, and with there being morning frost cover drying will be slow.

On the course the lads (all back at work now) have had work to do reinstating washed-in bunkers.  We've been able to get the greens sprayed with a tonic containing iron and nitrogen feed.  New holes have been cut.

Off the course work continues to refurbish the wooden tee markers - heavy duty rubbing down and revarnishing, with some attention to the mounting points on the tees.  The ProFlex rough mower has also been reset to a cut height of 2.25 inches, for when we can get it out.  It should be shorter, but any lower would result in power belts snapping - the rough is just too thick and heavy at the moment.
