CHESHIRE WILDLIFE TRUST

Cheshire Wildlife Trust - 2007

The Club has now become a corporate member of the Cheshire Wildlife Trust, which is the leading wildlife conservation organisation in the county. Their aims and our aims run very much in parallel and we hope to gain from their expertise in improving the diversity of flora and fauna on our golf course. Possible areas in which they could help will include the development of wild flowers in woodlands and in the long rough, the encouragement of butterflies by appropriate planting, and provision of nesting sites/habitats for fauna, such as hedgehogs, water voles and otters. Note that two sightings of otters have been made this year on the River Gowy both within 3 miles of the Club. CWT staff will also help us to assess what wildlife we already have on the course with a view to preparing a descriptive booklet and/or pages on our website.

CWT experts visited the course in early November as the first of a series of seasonal visits.
