No. Question % % % No Comments
Good OK Poor Response

1 Condition of the Course 92 8 0 0 Ground staff and committees do a great job
            More work needed on drainage
            Bunker quality not consistent
Area round 3rd tee needs a facelift
Drainage between green and tee to be improved
Progress has been a delight (frequently mentioned)
Can we plant more mature trees
Time and time again described as excellent
Only criticism is the ladies loo (presumably at 6th)

2 Rating of Practice Facilities 36 59 4 1 Some cover would be useful (frequently mentioned)
No area suitable for practising driving
Proper practice area needs more land

3 Rating of Condition of Tees 88 11 1 0

4 Rating of Condition of Fairways 92 8 0 0 Pity more players don't replace divots

5 Rating of Condition of Greens 99 1 0 0 Repairing pitch marks must be a priority
Aprons of greens poor in places
            Best in the area
            Challenging as they should be
Should be a notice if chemicals have been used

7 Should the course
  - Remain as it is 52%       More hazards but do not lengthen the course
  - Become more testing 45%       Not to be more testing for the average player
Make players manage the course better
            No more ball-swallowing rough
Need more bunkers and ponds not more length
Create additional tees for better players and events
Improve the course at the present rate
Course is difficult enough. Don't add length
Needs to mature rather than be remodelled/revamped
  2008 Questionnaire Analysis

7 (Continued)         Should be allowed to settle down
More testing does not mean longer
It is a first class members course not championship
Older members find the course long
New toilets required at the 6th tee
    No
    Yes No Comment

6 Would you welcome county matches         Provided there are only a few
and prestigious events at Eaton 62 31 7   To assist with marketing & raise profile
            Will interfere with members access
            Will damage the course
Course should be kept for the members
            Not necessary

8 Is there sufficient interest in Environment 98 1 1   We are very lucky to have the Thorps
Full marks to ground staff and course committee
Remember ground staff need time for high standards
  - conservation of external scenic views 96 0 4
  - visually attractive holes 84 14 2   We don't have any visually attractive holes
Some holes could be made to be more attractive
Boundary at the 7th tee could be improved
Perhaps more definition around some greens
  - management of long rough 72 22 6   The rough should penalise but not slow down play
Rough can be too long for lesser players
  - woodlands and copses 92 4 4   Can we accelerate the growth of new trees
Some excellent views blocked by planting of trees
  - ponds and wetlands 96 2 2
  - bird boxes 94 2 4   Pleased to see more are proposed
  - control of noxious weeds 86 8 6   Thistles should not be allowed to reseed

  - disposal of grass cuttings and waste 94 0 8
  - collection and disposal of litter 86 4 8   More litter bins
Small recepticle required on each tee for broken tees
Need more attractive litter bins with lids
            Litter bins at every tee

9 Should keeping subscriptions low be a priority 44 50 6   Income stream needs to be balanced with reputation
Common sense is the key. We have a good balance
Should be a reduction in fees for over 75s
Don't sting members. Bar prices too high.
Subs need to be at a level to maintain standards
High subs will prevent young people from joining
Not to the detraction of the course
Cost - benefit reasons should be given to members
Must be competitive with other courses

10 Should improving the playing/social 53 28 16   A balance need to be struck
environment take precedence over subs         Depends what is needed and the cost
Increase revenue through societies to keep subs low
            Within reason

11 Do we need to increase membership 36 50 8   A little

12 Have you received comment about the Club 56 36 8   Very favourable comments (mentioned many times)

            Friendly atmosphere and challenging greens

13 Does the club meet social need for everyone 64 18 18   We should not try to achieve 100%
Sky TV will encourage members to spend more
What happened to cocktail parties where members mix
Eaton is not a sociable club
            Good bar and catering facilities
Requires something to support bar in evenings
Golf club not a social club
    Good OK Poor
14 Facilities in the clubhouse 56 44 4   Needs Sky TV
Needs extending to provide room for juniors
Improved accoustics would help with functions
Lack of trolley shed and indoor activities (Snooker)

23 Do you think the Junior Section is healthy (56) 50 12 18   Should be more encouragement of juniors
A lot of members do not know anything about juniors
It would be good if there were more juniors
Lots of members have no connection with the juniors

24 Does the Club nurture the junior players 50 15 35   Professional could do more to assist

29 Would you like "on course" catering during         Bacon butties at the 10th
winter competitions (coffee, rolls at the 10th) 58 38 4   A bit of a luxury
            Would be most welcome
            Unlikely to be economic
Breakfast through the kitchen might work all year
More use should be made of the summerhouse
Need better hut facilities at the 10th
A bacon sandwich would be acceptable in the winter
            Self service ?
Hut at 10th could have a hot/cold drinks machine

30 Considering competitions for the men are there       Just about right (frequent answer)

Too many 5 40 55   Possibly add a couple of shotguns followed by food
Too many medals 15 38 47   Difficult to get partners for mid-week medals (no list)
  Not enough medals 17 33 50
  Enough fun competitions 42 29 29

Foul and/or abusive language 93 4 3   Depends how extreme
Abuse of clubs (tantrums) 81 14 5   Difficult to do without causing other problems
Non replacement of divots and pitch marks 93 3 4   Could easily drive members away
Continual slow play 95 3 2   Peer pressure is usually better
Censure is too strong a word
