ENTRY CRITERIA FOR CLUB KNOCK OUT COMPETITIONS

 

Monthly Medals

 

•  Adults to have a handicap of 28 or less
•  Juniors to have a handicap of 24 or less (Junior competitions take priority for Juniors to play in)

 

Club Knock-Out Competitions

Members are required to meet the following eligibility requirements before entering Club Knock Out Competitions: -

 

General Qualifying Requirements: -

•  To have submitted 3 Qualifying Medal cards from the previous year (i.e. 1 st Jan – 31 st Dec) or

•  Where 3 Qualifying Medal Cards were not completed in the previous year – 3 Supplementary Cards at any   time before the draw for silverware competitions (or a combination of Qualifying and Supplementary Cards*   prior to entering a competition).

•  New members i.e. those joining in the year of the competitions are eligible to play in these competitions   provided they have submitted to the Club Secretary a current handicap certificate (i.e. showing 3 qualifying   rounds at their old club) from their previous club otherwise the above rules shall be applied.

 

(All draws will be made through the Secretary's office computer unless the relevant committee determines otherwise).

 

Scratch Trophy

Entry requirements as Monthly Medals - other than for Junior's maximum handicap 15

 

Jubilee Plate

Entry requirements as Monthly Medals with full handicap difference but with maximum stroke allowance of 18

 

Glenmorangie Putter

(first round losers of Jubilee Plate)

Entry requirements as Monthly Medals with full handicap difference but with maximum stroke allowance of 18

 

Alistair Kennedy Trophy (Better Ball)

Entry requirements as Monthly Medals with ¾ handicap difference but with maximum stroke allowance of 20

Mens Committee have agreed that this will change to 18 from 2008

 

Summer Foursomes

Entry requirements as per monthly Medals but after 50% of combined handicaps difference

maximum stroke allowance of 20

Mens Committee have agreed that this will change to 18 from 2008

 

Winter Foursomes

Entry requirements as per monthly Medals but after 50% of combined handicaps difference

maximum stroke allowance of 18

Captains Day

Entry requirements Maximum handicap 28 and minimum age limit 18 – Captain decides format,

Juniors can be invited to take part on invitation from the Captain

*Supplementary Cards

Members who for whatever reason have been unable to play 3 qualifying competitions in the previous year have the opportunity to submit before the draw for silverware competitions ‘Supplementary Cards' that will enable their handicaps to be assessed and therefore make them eligible to play in ‘Silverware Competitions' – see above eligibility requirements. To submit a supplementary card the member must report to the Club Professional prior to going out stating that he proposes putting in a supplementary card – the club Professional will endorse a card accordingly to note this. The member must have this card marked by a playing partner and both should sign and either give the card to the club secretary or post in the ‘Handicap Card Box' in the spike bar immediately after the game.

Members are required to meet the following eligibility requirements before entering Club Silverware Competitions: -
 

General Qualifying Requirements: -

 

•  To have submitted 3 Qualifying Medal cards from the previous year (i.e. 1 st Jan – 31 st Dec) or

•  Where 3 Qualifying Medal Cards were not completed in the previous year – 3 Supplementary Cards at any   time before the draw for silverware competitions (or a combination of Qualifying and Supplementary Cards*

•  New members i.e. those joining in the year of the competitions are eligible to play in these competitions   provided they have submitted to the Club Secretary a current handicap certificate (i.e. based on 3 qualifying   rounds at their old club) from their previous club otherwise the above rules shall be applied.

 

Non-Qualifying Entries

Members who meet the individual competition rule requirements but do not have 3 Qualifying Cards can enter these competitions but they are ineligible for any of prizes (they must endorse their cards Qualifying Round Only) – they can therefore use these occasions to complete qualifying cards.

 

Prizes

•  Individual members can win a combination of both Gross & Nett Prizes

 

Club Championship

Entry maximum handicap 15

 

Spring Meeting:

Spring Plate (Gross) & Brymau Trophy (Nett)

Entry requirements as Monthly Medals but maximum stroke allowance of 20

 

Autumn Meeting

Rose Bowl (Gross) Fairclough Trophy (Nett)

Entry requirements as Monthly Medals but maximum stroke allowance of 20

 

Spring & Autumn Double

Hunters Cup (Spring & Autumn Gross Combined Meetings)

Dukes Cup (Spring & Autumn Nett Combined )

 

  

 

Members Responsibility

 

It is a member's responsibility to ensure that when entering all club competition that they meet the entry requirements – these can be found in the ‘Competition Book' in the Men's Locker Room. If in doubt please check with either a member of the Men's Committee or the Office. Failure to comply will lead to disqualification.

 

Calculating Shot allowances

 

  Example 1 Player ‘A' 0ff 4 Player ‘B' off 28-difference = 24 but maximum shots allowed 18

  Example 2 Player ‘A' off 4 Player ‘B' off 12 – difference 8 strokes allowance 8

  Example 3 Player ‘A' off 12 Player ‘B' off 28 – difference 16 strokes allowed 16

 

  (Don't forget the allowance is for each 18 holes so that if you go into extra holes you are entitled to your shots allowance again on the next 18 holes or part thereof)
