EATON GOLF CLUB BYE LAWS
A) GENERAL
1. VISITORS AND GUESTS
a) Golfers
Eaton Golf Club is a private members' Club and all visitors and guests must pay a Green Fee before playing golf. They must be members of a Golf Club and hold an official handicap. The purchase of a Green Fee ticket makes them temporary members for the day, so they do not have to be signed into the Visitors Book. All such temporary members will be issued with an appropriate Green Fee ticket to attach to their golf bag.
The Temporary playing members' fees (inclusive of VAT) are as agreed by the Board from time to time. All Green Fees are on a PER DAY BASIS
i) Members' Guests
In every case, the appropriate fees must be paid in the Professional's Shop before play and the guest's name must be entered into the Green Fee Book by the host member.
The maximum number of guests a member may sign in on any occasion is three and visitors are permitted to be signed in at the guest rate four times per year. The following restrictions apply to members' guests:
§ They are not permitted to tee off before 11a.m. on a Saturday, or before 10 a.m. on a Sunday or Bank Holidays.
§ Members must actually play with their guests.
§ Members' guests must not be playing in a society event.
§ Except for Eaton Members all those playing in a society event must pay the green fee applying to the society visiting.
ii) Casual Visitors
In every case, the appropriate fees must be paid in the Professional's Shop before play and the visitor's name must be entered into the Green Fee Book.
Tee time restrictions for casual visitors will be the same as for Members' guests above.
iii) Visiting Societies
Visiting Societies' charges are as for casual visitors except when part of a package arranged through and pre-paid directly to the Secretary/Manager.
No Society shall be allocated tee times earlier than 11.30am on a Saturday and 10.30 am on a Sunday.
No Society shall be allocated tee times on a Saturday or a Sunday which are less than one hour after the latest start time in a morning competition.
b) Non-golfers
Members are permitted to invite guests both as casual visitors and to Club social events except those specifically restricted to ‘Members Only'.
Members wishing to invite groups up to 10 in number must sign each guest into the Visitors' Book which is situated in the main Entrance Hall.
For groups over 10 the Administration Office needs to be consulted in advance. If permission is granted, a proforma needs to be collected from the Administration Office which the member must complete and sign. This form is then stapled into the Visitors' Book.
Members wishing to bring large groups, which cannot be accommodated solely in the dining room, need to submit a written request to the Board seeking such use of the Clubhouse.
Under no circumstances will the Club grant permission to use the Clubhouse to any groups who do not have a Club member attending the function.
2. TEE RESERVATIONS
Members will have priority on the course at all times save where a visiting society has booked specific times with the Club.
The tee shall be reserved for competitors in all official Club competitions to cover the times designated by the relevant starting sheet.
No Lady Member or visitor shall be allowed on the course before 11 a.m. on a Saturday or 10 a.m. on a Sunday / Bank Holiday. (The rule does not apply to a Lady member partaking in a Ladies competition)
No Society shall be allocated tee times earlier than 11.30am on a Saturday and 10.30 am on a Sunday.
Junior members should note that their tee restrictions are listed in section 6 below and in the Junior handbook.
At weekends only, from April 1st to June 30th each year four-balls may only start before 09.00 hrs from the 10 th tee, and shall not start before 09.00 hrs from the 1st tee . This will enable two-balls playing the early rounds of summer knockouts to have a better opportunity to enjoy an uninterrupted match.
After June 30th, and before April 1st starting times revert to the standard practice whereby play can commence from any official start point at any time, and simply be subject to the normal rules of etiquette.

C) COURSE
1. PRIORITY ON THE COURSE
Please note that the Greens Staff have priority on the course at all times.
Unless there is an official competition or when the 1 st tee has been reserved, the 10 th tee may by used as a starting point as long as it will not inconvenience any players already on the 9 th . Any players on the 9 th will have priority and may pass through those starting on the 10 th if they are caught. Players on reaching the 1 st tee must alternate with other players waiting to start. This rule does not apply when there is an official competition or when the 1 st tee has been reserved.
Unless otherwise determined by the Committee, priority on the course is determined by a group's pace of play. Any group playing a whole round is entitled to pass a group playing a shorter round.
Players should play at a good pace. It is a group's responsibility to keep up with the group in front. If it loses a clear hole and it is delaying the group behind, it should invite the group behind to play through, irrespective of the number of players in that group.
Juniors who turn up to play on a ‘casual' basis (i.e. non-competition) must ‘give way' on the 1 st Tee to Members, even where Members arrive on the Tee after the Junior, unless the Members waive their right.
2. COURTESY
CONSIDERATION FOR OTHER PLAYERS
In the interest of all, players should play without delay.
No player should play until the players in front are out of range. Players searching for a ball should signal the players behind them to pass as soon as it becomes apparent that the ball will not easily be found; they should not search for five minutes before doing so. They should not continue play until the players following them have passed and are out of range.
When the play of a hole has been completed, players should immediately leave the green.
BEHAVIOUR DURING PLAY
Partners may share clubs as permitted under Rule 4 (Clubs) within the R&A Rules of Golf. No one should move, talk or stand close or directly behind the ball or hole when a player is addressing the ball or making a single stroke. The player who has the honour should be allowed to play before his opponent or fellow competitor tees his ball.
3. SUSPENSION OF PLAY
If, for whatever reason, play should be suspended, ONE LONG SIREN BLAST will be sounded. All players must discontinue play immediately. Players must mark their balls, if necessary, and then return to the Clubhouse.
The Siren will sound TWO SHORT BLASTS when play is able to resume.
4 CARE OF THE COURSE
BUNKERS
Before leaving a bunker, a player should carefully fill up and smooth over all holes and footprints made by him.
Rakes should be left at least a yard inside the bunker pointing towards the flag of the hole in play.
RESTORE DIVOTS, REPAIR BALL MARKS AND DAMAGE BY SPIKES
Through the green, a player should ensure that any turf cut displaced by him is replaced at once and pressed down and that any damage to the putting green made by the ball is carefully repaired. Damage to the putting green caused by golf spikes should be repaired on completion of the hole.
PRACTICE SWINGS
In taking practice swings, players should avoid causing damage to the course, particularly the tees, by taking divots.
TEES
Players are requested to use tee pegs at all times.
GREENS
Golf bags should not be put down on the putting green. Care should be taken not to cause damage when putting down the flagstick. Players should ensure that neither they nor their caddies damage the hole by standing close to it, in handling the flagstick or removing the ball from the hole. The flagstick should be properly replaced in the hole before the players leave the putting green. Players should not damage the putting green by leaning on their putters, particularly when removing the ball from the hole.
GOLF TROLLEYS
All trolleys must be fitted with wide wheels. Trolleys must not be taken onto or across tees or greens, or between greenside bunkers and greens.
Local Notices regulating the movement of trolleys should be strictly observed.

Local Notices regulating the movement of golf buggies should be strictly observed.
